This video would have seemed sensationalist and tin-foil-hat for sure a few years ago. Well, not anymore. Here's Naomi Wolfe. Have at it.

What I didn't get about her video is hey, don't worry, Obama is about to get elected.

And then I thought, hmmm... well, maybe not. Something could 'happen' to him. Or America could lose its mind.

And then I saw this:

Please understand what you are looking at when you look at Sarah "Evita" Palin. You are looking at the designated muse of the coming American police state.

You have to understand how things work in a closing society in order to understand "Palin Power." A gang or cabal seizes power, usually with an affable, weak figurehead at the fore. Then they will hold elections -- but they will make sure that the election will be corrupted and that the next affable, weak figurehead is entirely in their control. Remember, Russia has Presidents; Russia holds elections. Dictators and gangs of thugs all over the world hold elections. It means nothing. When a cabal has seized power you can have elections and even presidents, but you don't have freedom.

I realized early on with horror what I was seeing in Governor Palin: the continuation of the Rove-Cheney cabal, but this time without restraints. I heard her echo Bush 2000 soundbites ("the heart of America is on display") and realized Bush's speechwriters were writing her -- not McCain's -- speeches. I heard her tell George Bush's lies -- not McCain's -- to the American people, linking 9/11 to Iraq. I heard her make fun of Barack Obama for wanting to prevent the torture of prisoners -- this is Rove-Cheney's enthusiastic S and M, not McCain's, who, though he shamefully colluded in the 2006 Military Tribunals Act, is also a former prisoner of war and wrote an eloquent Newsweek piece in 2005 opposing torture. I saw that she was even styled by the same skillful stylist (neutral lipstick, matte makeup, dark colors) who turned Katharine Harris from a mall rat into a stateswoman and who styles all the women in the Bush orbit -- but who does not bother to style Cindy McCain.

That's scary Keith. Do you think that the Rove-Cheney people expect John McCain to die in office, paving the way for their Trilby? I don't mean to sound paranoid, but when Wolf mentioned wardrobe and makeup, something clicked. Laura Bush's "look" may not be to everyone's liking, but her skin is luminous and smooth (yes I know part of it is make-up, but not all of it); her hair moves and then falls back into place (in general).

By contrast, Mrs. Mc Cain has struggled and worked very hard to regain memory and mobility after her 2004 stroke, but has been left to find her own way. She often looks as if she feels unwell, and could use assistance in combating any symptoms of ill health that might show up in public.

If I understand this piece, someone has made the marketing of Sarah Palin a top priority, and the sense that she is being coached each step of the way is evidence that she is someone's idea of a "dream president". Is that close to what you got out of it?

Yes, in Palin the Rove Machine has found its perfect figurehead. A 'mean girl' for the GOP, she has no shame, no limits, no scruples. She is so much more effective than the old white men who came before her. She has armor stronger than kevlar. If you challenge her outrageous rhetoric, she will just grin, wink, shrug, toss her hair and tell you you're unpatriotic. And the fools eat it up.
Brilliant indeed.

The setting wasn't ideal for points she's trying to get across.

Watch the lecture she did at the University of Washington in Seattle. You can find it on YouTube.

I for one don't buy into conspiracy theories not that she has any but many if not most of the points she makes are an eye opener and jaw dropping to the point where it will make you stop and take a closer look at what has transpired in the last 8 years.

Your tin foil hat is a bit crooked comrade Keith.

I watched five minutes of this woman babbling and all I saw was someone who needs to take her meds. Seriously, Wolfe is either acting out intentionally to hype her book (quite possible), or she suffers from paranoid schizophrenia and needs professional help.

You would be called a terrorist when they shoot you, not be an American citizen.

They should have arrested Paulsen when he was lying to Congress.

If you really want to be scared go and have a look at web-sites like liveleak.com and look at the sort of comments that are made against footage of people being blown up with 30mm cannon and "hellfire" missiles. The lack of education of the militarily trained lumpen is breath taking.

Do you think that the people in power aren't capable of turning those freaks and their weapons on you?

Of course this might be the least of our worries. As Paul Krugman highlighted recently, the USA has become a banana republic with nukes.

I've been calling "Generalissima Sarah" for weeks. See you in the Gulag Keith!

Keith, thank you for posting this video. I watched it elsewhere and was going to send you the link. Glad to see you were ahead of me.

A lot has been said about the danger of McCain dying in the middle of his term, but has it crossed anyone's mind that Obama might be assassinated?
