Anyone know if America still has a president? Because just like during Katrina, I sure haven't seen the whites of that bastard's eyes in awhile.

Meanwhile, John McCain, good luck spinning the events of today.

Change agent my ass. You sir, and your discredited party, are the problem.

Thanks for playing. Go away.

Obama, McCain try to seize economy issue

WASHINGTON (AP) — With chaos rocking financial markets, John McCain assailed "greed and corruption" on Wall Street and promised to clean it up, while Barack Obama blamed White House policies and said McCain would only deliver more of the same.

The presidential candidates struggled on Monday to seize control of the issue voters say is most important — the economy — with Republicans and Democrats alike saying the man who succeeds may well win the election.

Yet 50% of Americans want 4 more years

McCain will clean it up? One of his advisors, Phil Gramm, is largely responsible for it. What a joke. McCain is just lucky that Americans don't pay attention to anything other than TV Guide. Who's on "Dancing with the Stars" this season? Where will "Survivor" be held this year? These are the pressing questions for the American public.

when I think of what is happening in America I think of soundgarden's song Black hole sun..
In my eyes
Indisposed
In disguise
As no one knows
Hides the face
Lies the snake
The sun
In my disgrace
Boiling heat
Summer stench
neath the black
The sky looks dead
Call my name
Through the cream
And Ill hear you
Scream again

Black hole sun
Wont you come
And wash away the rain
Black hole sun
Wont you come
Wont you come

Stuttering
Cold and damp
Steal the warm wind
Tired friend
Times are gone
For honest men
And sometimes
Far too long
For snakes
In my shoes
A walking sleep
And my youth
I pray to keep
Heaven send
Hell away
No one sings
Like you
Anymore

Hang my head
Drown my fear
Till you all just
Disappear

Hello Keith! This is from mudflats an alaskan blog:
This one didn’t surprise me. The Associated Press is now reporting that Sarah Palin will no longer be cooperating with the Troopergate investigation. Actually, I’m not sure if she ever was cooperating with the Troopergate investigation. So far her cooperation has involved:

Saying she was going to cooperate.
Reiterating that she was going to cooperate.
and….that’s about it.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A campaign spokesman says Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin won’t speak with an investigator hired by lawmakers to look into the firing of her public safety commissioner.

McCain campaign spokesman Ed O’Callaghan told a news conference Monday that the governor, the Republican nominee for vice president, will not cooperate as long as the investigation “remains tainted.” He said he doesn’t know whether Palin’s husband would challenge a subpoena issued to compel his cooperation.

The campaign insists the investigation has been hijacked by Democrats.

And I have yet to have anyone explain to me how a Republican dominated Legislature could have voted unanimouslyto proceed with the investigation by special investigator Stephen Branchflower, and have been “hijacked by Democrats.” That story may cut it with her new-found friends in the Lower 48, but it’s not cutting it here in Alaska. I think that this move lost her a lot of respect with Alaska lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, and with a lot of Alaskan voters. There are plenty in Alaska who are caught up in Sarah-mania, and will defend her no matter what she does, but not everyone.

The only reason Palin was not issued a subpoena, is because the Legislature actually believed her when she said she would cooperate. They actually took her at her word. (Patting Legislature on head) Oh, you trusting souls.

Alaskans know corruption. They know what it feels like to be kicked in the teeth by their elected representatives. They recognize the signs of guilt, and the twisting and squirming, like a bug on a pin, that our corrupt politicians display when the heat gets turned up. This is not new. We’ve danced this dance more times than we care to admit in the last two years. But this one was supposed to be different. THIS one was supposed to be “clear and transparent.” THIS one stood up there in her lipstick and her red blazer, and her mantle of change and said, “Hold me accountable.”

We know what’s tainted this investigation, and ‘taint the Democrats.

OK, Legislature. The ball is in your court. Dust yourselves off, because it’s your play.

I don't know about the current lame duck, but I heard the following sound bites regarding the bailouts:
McCain: (paraphrased) "This is what we need to do about this situation....."
Obama: "A vote for McCain is a vote for the current administration..."

How much longer can Obama run on hatred for the Bush administration before he is forced to admit he has no plans to actually change anything, other than saying he will change things?

What I don't understand is why the two campaigns are only, in large part, talking to themselves. They sit in their respective campaign bunkers, watch each other's campaign ads, produce counterpunch attack ads...all this irrespective of the voters. We might as well not be here. I think Obama should ignore McCain and just finally tell us WHAT THE HELL he's going to do and stop all this lipstick on a pig nonsense. What the heck is the plan? Anybody? How about a clear, concise outline of the issues facing America...I'll settle for an outline.

I really don't think I can vote for either of these guys...they both make me sick. I'd just go into the voting booth and throw up.

We really are in trouble...all this time and money and we only get two possible options for president? Two???

And I don't want the media deciding who is going to debate.

Anon 11:18-There is no plan. There is scapegoating, but no plan. Even if Obama goes in an closes some corporate welfare loopholes, thats just putting a little steroid cream on a melanoma-too little, too late, totally inappropriate to the matter at hand.

Bush is probably taking a month long vacation again.
