Well, I think it's safe to say that today, we truly saw America panic. And that's not a pretty thing.

The Republicans got us into this mess.

The Democrats got us into this mess.

The realtors got us into this mess.

The mortgage brokers got us into this mess.

The bankers got us into this mess.

The Americans who gambled on houses and committed mortgage fraud got us into this mess.

The Chinese who artificially suppressed our interest rates got us into this mess.

HGTV, MTV, A&E and TLC got us into this mess.

Greenspan, Lereah, Bernanke, Yun, Paulson, Dodd, Frank, Swann, Appleton-Young, De Groot, Norman, Adkins and many more got us into this mess.

So...

WHO'S GOING TO GET US OUT OF THIS MESS!!!!!!!

I will offer my mortgage company, GMAC .40 on the borrowed dollar to pay off.

In other words, I owe $100K, I give them $40K cash and they give me grant deed.

Otherwise, DIE SCUM.

Keith, we are simply going to have to go through the pain. Like 20 years of real, serious suffering. Then, people will value education, productivity and thrift again. See ya on the other side bro!

I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight...
If you grow up in Hawaii, you're "exotic, different." Grow up in Alaska eating moose burgers, and yours is a quintessential American story.
If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a maverick.
Graduate from Harvard law School and be President of the *Law Review*,
you are unstable.
Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well-grounded.

If you spend 3 years as a community organizer, spend 12 years
as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator
representing a district with over 750,000 people, spend 4 years
in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people
while sponsoring 131 bills , you don't have any real leadership experience.

If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people,
then you're qualified to become the country's second-highest ranking
executive.

If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising
2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a
real Christian.

If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your
disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a
Christian.

My poor Father blood pressure hit the roof. My dad called me today. He was watching a NEWS show that blamed Clinton and low income housing program on the housing crisis...My dad was furious...How can they get away with this, he said? My father who wasn't sure who he would be voting for made his decision...Obama.
This my friends is coming from Celebration Florida.
My dad is nervous about fl. He believes because of J. Bush McCain will win in this important state.

Why is the media spreading such garbage?

The only way to get out of this mess is for the gov. to level with the country. Admit we overspent, over borrowed, tried to get a whole lot of something with little work, with the obvious result. Continuing to put a spin on reality is only going to make things worse (of course, this assumes that we have not already passed the economic point of no return).

Indeed, fear and panic are in the air -- but still some denial and "it will be different this time" sentiment is clinging to the rim. Kramer is a silly fool most of the time, but he seems genuinely concerned that this time it really may be different -- but not in a good way.

I don't think anyone needs to, or even can, save us. This thing just needs to work itself out the old fashioned way, like in 1929. Send the liars & crooks to jail, put the regulations back in place, and enforce the laws.

We the Sheeple of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Corporation, establish Control, insure global Enslavement, provide for the corporate defence, promote the corporate Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to our Corporate government, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

As I said on the other blog, here are some ideas:
1) A constitutional amendment for a vote of no confidence. (Like Canada and some other countries have - throw them all out or at least keep them worried).
2) SEC rule that everything has to be on the books. No shadow economy with our money.
3) No short selling at all (no gambling with our money).
And a few questions, if anyone can answer -
1) How much money do insurance companies have? I know they don't pay out very much.
2) If the government can come up with trillions of dollars to bail out private comapanies, why can't they fund Social Security?
3) How is it that no one knows where this bad paper is? Someone has to pay someone - can't they follow the money?

APer's - We have to figure out what we can do . Then we have to get togather and do it. Let's have some ideas!

A huge crash.

After which America can start from scratch as a minor player in the world economy and build its way up.

The third world living standards in the middle will suck, but that's the price you pay for having those SUVs and McMansions that you couldn't afford.

The empire of greed, lies and corruption is collapsing! Good riddance, you won't be missed.

Actually, WE got ourselves into this mess. As is fitting, WE will have to get ourselves out with corporate bailouts and tax increases.

Do you really think the American public is not to blame in any way? Who took out the liar's loans? Who got into the real estate business overnight? Who went from living in a trailer park to having five rental houses? Who HELOCed their way into faje prosperity?

If I offer you $100 for nothing and you come out onto your front porch to take it while my accomplice goes in your back door and steals a few things, is not part of the problem that you were too much of an idiot to really think I was going to give you $100 for nothing?

Think, HPers...it IS partly your fault, and mine, and everybody's.
